Z-LASIK System
Your eye is like your fingerprint—no two eyes are exactly alike. Southern Eye Center is proud to offer the revolutionary Z-LASIK system for advanced precision and customization.
During a Z-LASIK procedure, each treatment plan begins with a wavefront analysis to measure how light travels into and through the eye, detailing the unique imperfections in a patient’s vision. Corneal topography measurements scan the outside surface of the eye to look for tiny variations in the elevation and curve of the cornea. The combination of these two measurements delivers a one-of-a-kind LASIK procedure tailored for your unique eye.
The highly specialized, patient-centric technology of Z-LASIK minimizes post-surgical inflammation and discomfort, providing a very high patient satisfaction rate with good visual results. Blade-Free Technology
In addition to the Z-LASIK system, Southern Eye is proud to offer a completely blade-free LASIK experience. For many years, the first step of the LASIK procedure was performed with a blade called a microkeratome. Today, some practices still use this handheld technique for LASIK procedures.
At Southern Eye, we’ve invested in the most innovative laser technology available for LASIK, which allows us to perform the entire LASIK procedure completely blade-free. By using laser technology for each step of your LASIK procedure, we are able to offer complete customization and added precision to help you achieve great visual outcomes and a quick recovery.
Blade-Free Benefits
The blade-free LASIK procedure is so safe that all branches of the U.S. Military and NASA have approved it for their service men and women. Blade-free LASIK has also been shown to help improve recovery time after your procedure and offer a very rapid vision quality result for patients. Always at the forefront of technology, it is no surprise that Southern Eye Center was the first to perform blade-free LASIK in the Pine Belt.
Additionally, our new laser technology has increased the range of vision conditions and corneal conditions that qualify for LASIK, so even if you were not a candidate for LASIK a few years ago, you may be a candidate today! Blade-free LASIK has earned FDA approval to treat the broadest range of vision imperfections—including mild to severe nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. In fact, more than 94% of the eligible population is now a potential candidate for blade-free LASIK.
Same-Day LASIK
In some cases, we are able to perform blade-free LASIK in just one visit to our office. Southern Eye Center is the first practice in the Pine Belt to offer the “One-Visit-Is-It” LASIK procedure. Qualified patients are able to have their consultations and their procedures all in the same day and, in most cases, return to work the following day.
