Pterygium Surgery

Pterygia are folds of tissue in the eye that can invade the top layers of the cornea. When this happens, astigmatism or other negative vision conditions can develop on the cornea. To treat this condition, the pterygium folds can be removed through an advanced procedure and a replacement graft of the patient’s conjuntiva (the white tissue of the eye) is placed in the area of the removal to stop a recurrence of the condition. The advanced corneal specialists at Southern Eye are proud to offer this procedure for patients suffering from this condition.
