The Gift of Sight

For over 30 years, the surgeons of Southern Eye Center have been giving back to the community through their annual Gift of Sight program. This program has given needy patients the opportunity to have medically necessary eye procedures and has restored vision to hundreds of patients.  On February 15, 2012, Dr. Kiper Nelson continues the tradition.

“Patients can return to their jobs and things they enjoy with their new sight. It is one of the most rewarding opportunities I have as a surgeon to give back to my community” says Dr. Kiper Nelson.  The surgeons donate their time, surgery center, and supplies so the patients pay nothing for their procedure.

Through these efforts, Southern Eye Center has had a tremendous impact on the people of South Mississippi.  Ms. Madeline Robinson said “When I sat up, I could read my name for the first time in years.”  Her daughter had tears in her eyes as she said “My mom can see again.”
