Jaime Jimenez Understands Glaucoma
Jaime Jimenez, M.D. is a renowned ophthalmologist and a well-respected surgeon in the fields of Retinal Disorders and Glaucoma. He is the former Assistant Chief of Ophthalmology at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi where he received an Air Force Commendation Medal. He is Board Certified and a fellowship-trained in Vitreoretinal and Diabetes. Recently, Dr. Jimenez led a seminar on Glaucoma treatment for a group of local optometrists at a Southern Eye Center continuing education event.
“Glaucoma is a frequently misunderstood condition,” Dr. Jiménez said. “There has been a shift in our approach to treatment, minimizing the burden of eye drop use and controlling pressure with modern lasers and minimally invasive glaucoma procedures.”
Dr. Jimenez led the seminar entitled, “Modern Perspectives in the Medical and Surgical Management of Glaucoma.” Southern Eye Center is the Pine Belt’s only Board Certified multi-specialty ophthalmology practice.
The optometrists gleaned information from Jimenez who has been caring for patients at Southern Eye Center for more than 20 years. He is a fellow with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Surgeons, the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology, the European Retina Society and the International Ocular Inflammation Society. He also serves as a board member for the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi and the Partners for the Arts at the University of Southern Mississippi.
In addition to receiving an invaluable education from one of the industry’s most respected Vitreonretinal and Diabetes specialists, the optometrists received Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) credit for this continuing education seminar.
